lipoma causes

The exact cause behind the development of lipomas is unknown but the condition is considered to be inherent. This means you are at an increased risk of developing a lipoma if there is a family history of the condition.

Meanwhile, certain conditions can also trigger the development of lumps under skin all over body. These include:

1. Genetics: A family history of lipomas can increase the likelihood of developing them.

2. Age: Lipomas are most common in middle-aged adults (between 40-60 years).

3. Obesity: People who are overweight or obese may be more likely to develop lipomas.

4. Injury: In some cases, lipomas can develop at the site of an injury or trauma.

5. Medical Conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as Gardner’s syndrome and adipose dolorosa, may cause multiple lipomas to form.

6. Diabetes: Disturbances in lipid metabolism are common in diabetes and may increase the risk of developing lipomas.
